Also known as the “Gion Festival” of Tanba, it is Kameoka’s big fall festival, “Kameoka festival”. Together with 11 festival carts, lively traditional Japa-nese music gets this festival going in high spirits.
Kameoka festival originates from the Muromachi era of Japan. Then from 1573-1592, during the Sengoku period, the festival fell out of practice, but again, from the Edo period, the towns people put their effort into slowly reviving this “towns people festival”.
