Hiranuma Shrine was established and worshipped as the place of dwelling of the guardian diety of Shinden in 1839. Because "Suitengu"'s amulet is vener-ated here, Suitengu is very close to the hearts of the people as the god pre-siding over safe birth and water.
Even though the name of the shrine has presently been changed, the people of that area still call it Suitengu. Every year at the regularly held festival, the procession of the mikoshi moves from the shrine out among the food stands creating a really exciting environment.
