This ceremony also appeared in the film “The Cicada of the Eighth Day”. The beauty of these moun-tainous regions, Hitoyama and Nakayama, are even spoken of now. In the festival, children hold torches called “Hote” over their heads while walking down foot-paths between the rice fields.
